I really enjoy all things outdoors, from mountain tops, riverbeds, and switchbacks to alpine meadows and frozen ponds. I like to go anywhere and everywhere.
When I’m out in the natural world I feel clearheaded. I feel refreshed with a sense of peace—it feels like home. Nature inspires me with its beauty and wild, dynamic, adaptable, ever-changing environment.
It’s important for me to go outside for my mental and physical health. I feel less anxious and more motivated, refreshed, and confident after spending time in nature. I need to move my body and get my blood flowing, which I find easy to do outside. I enjoy tons of outdoor activities such as water sports, rafting, kayaking, climbing, mountain biking, dirt biking, and hiking, as well as relaxing*.
While I think that spending time in nature is beneficial for everybody, it’s especially true for those with MS. Some studies show exercise can help with some MS symptoms.
The climate does affect my MS, both warm weather and cold weather. I have trouble thermo regulating so changes in temperature are also difficult. Sometimes it’s discouraging that I don't have the tolerance for weather that I used to, but I like to focus on the positive rather than the negative.
